This group is about to collect contemporary street photography. It is not easy to verbally define what this means. Nick Turpin of iN-PUBLiC describes it as follows

"Street photography is not reportage, it is not a series of images displaying, together, the different facets of a subject or issue. For the street photographer there is no specific subject matter and only the issue of 'life' in general. He does not leave the house in the morning with an agenda and he doesn't visualise his photographs in advance of taking them. Street photography is about seeing and reacting, almost bypassing thought altoghether."

Consider this group to look for photography in the tradition of Winogrand, Friedlander or Meyerowitz. This does not mean that everything in this group should be at that level, this would be too much to ask (although always welcome). They are mentioned here only to honour some of the founders of the genre and to keep their work awake.

New interpretations of the genre are welcome, however, it is a moderated group to try and keep it in the mentioned focus.
