Sneaking and unperceived by many, censorship has found its way into ipernity.

Suspended accounts are becoming more and more commonplace these days – a fate that has not only affected members presenting frontal nudity, but also those who displayed works of art which were the outcome of hours, days and years worth of creative deliberation.

In any case, censorship must not be tolerated. Especially not on a platform which, two years ago, had no qualms actively touting itself as the cosmopolitan and tolerant alternative to flickr.

There has been a proposal for a content rating/filtering system which would solve the problem of people seeing images they probably don't want to see. But this proposal is from February 2008, and nothing has happened since.

Censorship is the death of art and creativity, many people have already left Ipernity, are not posting anymore, are scared and annoyed… and sadly it seems the team isn't aware of the significance of this issue.

The purpose of this group is to sensibilize the team and ipernity's users to the importance of this matter, and to send a clear message that we completely disagree with censorship, with the direction this platform is going, and with the team's current policy of non-communication and non-deescalation.
