The posting of "borrowed" material has increased considerably recently, and not only in this group. Mostly you can tell by just looking at the filenames.
IMO, 90+% of contributors are posting their own stuff, and they should not be punished because of a few black sheep.
How should we moderators handle the situation? Reject everything suspicious?

It appeared a true photographer to me, not a thief. I believe that it is necessary to think before rejecting a suspect. The decisions can be taken with several.

Maybe the rules need to be clarified, as Gee Dub did in his groups.

If this group is being turned into a picture dump (and it's on its way), I'll be out of here soon.

That's what i tried to do by introducing stricter rules for the group, by removing the stolen photos (as far as i could) and their poster(s) from the group.
I regret that i appointed one of those moderator of the group, anyway, i couldn't immagine that he had absolutely no own photos to post.
I did the same with those "friends" whose first and only reaction on these problems was reacting with panic, just because one member posted stolen photos, removed all their photos from my group and banned me from their contact list.
I relied on the 10 (!!) moderators of this group during the 2 weeks of my absence, but, as it seems, nobody tried to contact the "thieves", asking them to remove the photos.
This group doesn't need stolen photos, and it doesn't need moderators that don't do their job or members that immediately remove their photos, just because they are afraid of some "collective punishment" for all members of that group.
Have a nice day!
