Does christianity need to inject fear and guilt in order to flourish?

My neighbors tell me that, if christianity didn't tell you that you're a sinner and guilty of something -- not sure exactly what -- then it wouldn't have expanded so successfully and, also, lots of people might be happier and others left unpersecuted.

What do you think?

I'm certainly no expert, myself!

THIS POST IS ROBBED FROM MY BLOG! (I gave myself permission first, of course!)

HOWEVER: if it's "wrong" in some way to post the same entry in two places, please telll me! I thought it would fit in perfectly in this group, and that's why I did it.

Will I be punished?

English: The idea of God is the pivotal element for most of the humanity and not only into the christian world. To the believers gives the hope for a better life after death and the justification of his earthly existence where everything good comes from God and “is” God, but what about evil? For unbelievers the comfort of knowing that there isn't life after death and the constant attitude of enjoying every single moment of life without subjective contradictions regarding “good and evil” in this world.
