Thanks for the links Amazing. We could try to create a new incarnation on Flickr, but I don't know whether I have the time or patience to help do this. In the true spirit of Italo-Byzantine anarchy feel free to use the Italo-Byzantine brand if you wish. All options are open. The Italo-Byzantine spirit is unstoppable with us or without us. Basingstoke forever!

... we just re-opened our 'Pareidolia'-group in Flickr; named "Ipernity Pareidolia" there ...
please, no misunderstanding: we really hope to save our fragile IP, but at the same time we have to care for all our contributions.
Shit happens everywhere .... let us be active here until the last day .... hoping it continous, but ....

OK, as a safety measure, in case the plugs get pulled at short notice, I've set up a Flickr group with the same name, please do join if you've an account there and we can keep this fun place rolling if the lights go out here.

Watch Paterson. You don't need anywhere to go. Be where you are.

Paradoxically, membership is rising. By the time Ipernity folds the group will be at its height.

I'll be where I always was/never left, clunky old Flickr and my own untidy Souk.

There's only one way for the Italo-Byzantine Acuity to go. It continues to collect waifs and strays. It continues to proliferate in interstitial space, whatever that means. All power to the Difference Engines.

It looks to me like the IMA is the best way to ensure the future of IP.

I think all members will have to be patient with the process, and not expect to be constantly updated. When a discussion site I know of was threatened with closure (Mustardland, a popular discussion platform for fans of the iconic British radio programme The Archers) it took nine months to finally set up its own members' association. There are many legal and technical issues to work through.

The people involved in getting the new IP up and running will have to put in a great deal of time and energy....but they already, to me, seem to have made good decisions about structuring the new IP ..and I'm optimistic that IP will work well in future, run more collaboratively with its membership.

What I'm trying to say, I think, is "don't panic". Let's just stay with it, see what happens, and be prepared to give financial support as and when it is called for by the IMA. None of the problems and anxieties people have raised seem insurmountable in the long term.

It's understandable that people here will let their membership lapse and look for other sites for their photographs. We can do that and still back the IMA in its efforts to renew Ipernity when the time comes.

Now, join the group Italo-Byzantine Acuity on Ipernity! Our membership has risen over the past two months! Keep the faith.

Where are people going? I'm 'going' nowhere. I'm staying in and concentrating on Ipernity now that things are clearly settling down. I feel I can get down to work on some photography again. I really don't like Flickr and have had little enthusiasm for photography whilst feeling stuck there.
