Italo-Byzantine Vacuist Manifesto:
An agitation free space welcoming flamboyant twaddle from naked cyclists, dadaists, rebels, dissenters, idiot-savants, antichrists, aesthetes, castaways, rioters, degenerates, aliens, drifters, unbelievers, two-tone panthers, freaks, situationists, outsiders, pagans, victims, plotters, deep topographers, auteurs, non-conformists, oddballs, antisocialites, strangers, drop outs, delinquents, occultists, nomads, flaneurs, dérivers, under-achievers, avant-gardists, heathens, undesirables, subversives, mythogeographers, visionaries, revolutionaries, apostates, sceptics, diggers, provocateurs, semioticians, insurgents, anarcho-syndicalists, surrealists, peasant poets. misfits, protesters, mutineers, absurdists, renegades, mavericks, radicals, iconoclasts, malingerers, mendicants, polemicists, malcontents, urbane guerillas, children of the damned, idlers, trouble makers, and fantasists looking for a way in.
What about photography? We are not anti-photography, but deplore the “Splendid capture! Beautiful picture! Well composed! Thanks for sharing!” School of Sociable Drivel. We try to make our drivel at least interesting, and , at best, we think it might even be possible to communicate with each other as surprising, almost- human Beings (or mythical beasts) who make pictures out of what they can.
Every person is likely to be open to a different kind of argument, so propaganda cannot be diversified enough if we want to touch all. We want it to pervade and penetrate all the utterances of life, social and political, domestic and artistic, educational and recreational. There should be propaganda by word and action, the platform and the press, the street corner, the workshop, and the domestic circle, acts of revolt, and the example of our own lives as free men. Naked protest is a practice close to our hearts , a sign of our vulnerability and our desire for change.
Our economic plan is modest: taxation needs to be arranged so that the poor get a little richer and the rich get a little poorer. (Kinbote’s Law.) The rich, unable to imagine being able to survive without being awarded extra millions to cushion them will be given support and counselling.
We insist on asking the Winstanley question: Was the earth made to preserve a few covetous, proud men to live at ease, and for them to bag and barn up the treasures of the Earth from others, that these may beg or starve in a fruitful land; or was it made to preserve all her children? Piketty provides our analysis of the current situation.
The Italo-Byzantine Vacuist ideal aims to create a movement based on radical altruism. Connecting in a meaningful way makes people happy and stimulates their empathy glands. Being seen, being appreciated and understood makes life enjoyable and worth living. It is a transformative, revolutionary art to really look, think and communicate with each other. The power is at our fingertips. Use it.
