Group administration proposals

Hi everyone!

I thought I start a new thread with proposals for group administration in general. For example I propose to extend the group description with the following text:

----

Please have a look at what typically is considered street photography before adding photographs to the group pool. The site iN-PUBLiC for instance gives a very good idea about what street photography is.

Photographs that the group admins and moderators do not consider as being street photographs are removed from the group pool without notice. Please do not feel offended by this practice. It is simply the easiest way to keep the collection 'clean'.

If you feel a photograph that has been removed should stay in the Street Photography collection, please

- open a discussion thread,
- post the photo into the discussion thread and
- state why you think respective photo is a street photograph

Thank you and enjoy street photography!

And as an addition to what I wrote above I recommend to remove the existing group description as at least to me it is rather misleading.

I would like to suggest as well that the posting limit is set to one photograph a day.

limit is set to 10 photos a week
we shall write a text and users must accept it before they can join the group !
what do you think ?

Ulrich replies:
Do you think 10 photos a week is ok? With a limitation of one photo a day a user might think a little different about what they post...

I think a text for acceptance is a good idea.

And I recommend to include the above text in the group description too so that users are not surprised by one or the other photo 'disappearing' without notice.

I'm ok with the proposal. An initial text for acceptance seems also a good idea. A limitation of the number of pictures is not required in my opinion if the group is regularly (and heavily) cleaned.

We can also think to translations in different languages for the description of the group.

Administrators and moderators must also agree on some rules before cleaning. I proposed in the other discussion something like: street (or public places), people, no backs only, no tele-lens (or big crops). In case of doubts, to let the picture.

I like 'in case of doubs, leave the picture in'. However, I am not sure about whether these rules are not too narrow...

I posted my most recent photograph by intention:

It has only the back of a person, still I like it as a street photograph. Should it go from the pool? I would not have a problem to remove it but it would mean that I clearly have a different understanding of what is street photography...

As for the translation, I can do the german :-)

I would recommend to keep the Title 'Street Photography' for the german version. The translation of this would be 'Straßenfotografie' but it is not as well known for the genre as the english term.

Here is the german translation for the group description:

----
