There is one important caveat to using the telescope or a PC to command the telescope's movements. All these tools are blind and assume the telescope has been setup accurately leveled and is polar-aligned.
There are steps to check & improve polar alignment and mounts also have their own alignment methods and can determine the inaccuracies of the current setup and compensate for it nevertheless, the movement still is "blind"
The most accurate way to control a telescope's movement is to look at the stars, calculate the current position and to make adjustments, if needed. An experienced astronomer knows the sky like the back of his hand and will do that manually. If you are imaging you already have a camera connected to the telescope and you can use that to give the computer an eye and let software help you to get you to your destination.
