I was in Toronto on the last week of May 2006, attending the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society congress. Toronto City Hall (pictured) is across the street from the congress venue.
As much as I admire City Hall as an architectural masterpiece, I wasn't going to take a picture of it, because hey, it's been done a few times before. (Ok, so that's a rotten reason, given this.)
Well... Tuesday evening, City Hall hosted a public talk on global warming, given by Dr Andrew Weaver. Dr Weaver is a world-renowned expert on ocean currents and one of Canada's most respected climate experts. The talk took place in the cool Council Chambers (the flying saucer between the buildings, not visible on this picture). An occasion just asking for something to remember it by.
I took this shot just after the talk, as we were strolling out of the building.
A quick weather note: the glow in the photo comes from the sun setting behind cumulonimbus clouds, northwest of Toronto.
