Omar, one of my favorite soul/r&b-artists of the 90s, on his latest record "Sing (if you want it)" shows that he still has it (after I didn't expect that he could surprise me anymore). Now I even think it's his best record to this point! And that he was able to work with people like Stevie Wonder shows his worth in this kind of music.
lyrics:
Talking of summer days enjoying in so many ways
taking time to soak some rays I'm feeling you
when you've been couped up for a while
it's nice to get out sometime
in the park play ball spread out I'm feeling you
I'm feeling you, hope that you're feeling me too
just like I'm feeling you...
when the sunshine comes after rain
like it's trying to soothe the pain
you can make bad things go away
I'm feeling you any time my skies have a cloud
want something to make me proud
when my life is full of doubt, I'm feeling you...
I'm feeling you, hope that you're feeling me too
just like I'm feeling you...

The bass and drums line is just so groovy ! Sadly the break with organ is quite short (about the end). I should find the extended version ;o)
Thanks for the discovery !

Well, the record is from 2006 and I don't know if they brought this track out as single, seems not, that's why you never heard it... anyway if you know Omar or not and you like his voice you surely should get "Sing (if you want it)", it's definitely one of the highlights in newer soul/r&b-music! (even if I also needed a while to get used to it totally) I'm sure you remember "There's nothing like this"?! A song with a "hypnotic"/funky bassline... it remained in my head for many many years, before I actually bought the original recording... meanwhile I had the three follow-ups of him though;o) Anyway I'm pretty sure now, his new one is his best... btw, people like Common and Angie Stone are on the record too. ;)
The thing with the solo somehow never striked to me... I think it was natural for me, because it already was part of the outro... but yeah, when I listen to it now, I also think it's a bit short... maybe the song was already finished when Stevie (as I'm pretty sure that he played it) added his keys and solo. :))
Ah, and you're welcome! ;)
