Seems very bleak and hopeless as many Chinese cities... which year has it been taken?

Xining is a modern and clean city after the gruesome history of the earthquake 1927.

I did not mean dirty or shabby, but quite grey and full of concrete. I bet, it is the Nature and small villages why most people go to Qinghai, am I right?

Its true, the skyline of Xining looks like a big amount of new built skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, side by side. In the cities center is a grand public park where local people relax by letting fly kites, juggling Diabiolo or doing Tai chi chuan. If you like I can post more photos from Xining.
