Boats tour start in Chong Khneas
The floating village of Chong Khneas lies at the edge of Tonle Sap lake, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia.
This fishing settlement, situated just 10 km south of Siem Reap and is a must-visit attraction for an insight to the lifestyle of village folks in Cambodia.
The boats tours now are strict regularised and a huge tourist business with all upstreams and disadvantages.
Every visitor pays 5 $ for the entrace into the harbor and 20 $ for the boats tour for two hours.
When I came to the same place last time in 2001 we had to bargain with the boat skipper and got the tour for 20 $ - three hours and for four visitors.
I can understand that the main income is used develop the local infrastructure, but a lot goes into private pockets (to the wrong people).
I prefer next time going to Kamphong Phluk a nearby village and start a tour form another point.
