    This caterpillar measured in at 5cm. Note: There appears to be a move to reclassify this moth with some thinking it should be placed in the subfamily, Catocalinae. Until there is something definite, I will leave it where it is! :-)

    Of the 5 eggs successfully hatched, this is the last caterpillar to enter 5th Instar stage. It was exactly a week behind the other 4 and is the only dark version.

    This shot was taken 24 hours before this caterpillar pupated, the only dark form I had from the 5 successfully hatched from eggs collected on the 10th March - or thereabouts. This caterpillar was one of two who pupated immediately.
