Bushfire

Bushfire
This shot was taken after a south-westerly wind change. This fire, in virtually inaccessible country was causing ground fire fighters a considerable amount of concern. Several air bombers had to be deployed to control its eastern front. Had the wind not changed, I could have been in for a sleepless night if the fire reached open country.

It was a similar wind change that saved us in the 2006 Grampians fires.

Am still following your fires.
My website of choice collapsed under the weight of so many followers :/

They are pretty much 'under control' now, "jj".

I know exactly what you mean. Previously, the CFA website was next to useless when the pressure was applied. However, the Victorian State Government set up "Vic Emergency" which has not crashed once since I started using it and I gave it a fair hammering at the height of activity last week.

Thanks, Jenny. This fire took quite some time to bring under control.

It seems a word away now, doesn't it.
So glad to have had good rains this past couple of weeks.
Only a few days to go before fungi should be up and off!

We missed out on any rain "jj". Might have to wait until Anzac Day, I suspect! :-)
