In the UK, there has been a recent publication moving members of this genus into Eudonia, but there is conflicting information all published at the same time. There is also a big revision from Europe of families which has been done for a lot of macro moths. It is not helpful to enthusiasts when the Taxonomists can't agree. It is one of the reasons I stood down from doing County Records, as there were too many revisions being done at the same time, causing a lot of confusion and doesn't help when trying to keep record up to date.

Probably the same occurs here as well. In Victoria, over 2,000 species are recorded and possibly as many remain unknown.

We can only do our best with the information to hand but your point about the taxonomists is valid. In Australia, the flora taxonomists are probably more rabid than those dedicated to Lepidoptera.

UPDATE: I've just had a quick look and yes, there appears to be moves afoot to reclassify this moth into Eudonia here as well. "Verification Needed" means I might leave it as is until further notice!
