Bad bad boy

Bad bad boy
TSC: 1 or 3 or 5 of something ...

In Helsinki has arrived a large sculpture of a peeing boy "Bad bad boy" in the center near the sea, made by Tommi Toija. People do have very different opinions about it.

Petar Bojić, Eva Wiren, .t.a.o.n., Bruno Suignard and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

This is only for about 5 days on the spot and will be removed in about two monthes

You chose a great viewpoint for this shot, so that those sideways-looking eyes are watching you - and us!. Terrific image

I followed your link to the sculptor's website.....fascinating stuff

nicely taken image and great sky, but I don't think the sculpture is really sympathetic with its location though . . .

On the left side outside the picture are old buildings and the right side also outside the picture is an orthodoxian cathedral, so a great contrast with those surroundings

Ha, having first seen the cropped shot in NTSC and now this full length image I stand by my earlier comment ... there's something disturbing about this little guy ... great shot though! :)

Wierd Folkersma has replied to autofantasia
He is doing for many years already this type of guys, but only in a small size. They are reflections of himself and people around as far I understood. This was the first big one, 8 and halve meter

I'm glad that it is not in my city. Is there a fountain attached?
Wierd Folkersma has replied to Esther
When I photographed it, the fountain was still not working, but is like a big version of Manneken Pis at the moment

Well, that not a place one should go swimming that's for sure. Not sure about what some folks call art but art is art and it is in the eye of the beholder ... rather odd though I must say. You did a good job of presenting this Wierd.

Wierd Folkersma has replied to Clickity Click
Art it is for sure, I do see a lot of humour in this sculpture, nicely contradicting with the surroundings. He makes those small guys for many years already and are reflections of himself and people around. This is the first large one

What a strange sculpture !!! It is strange to see that its face looks old..... An old manneken Piss in fact... I can understand some people find it ackward, and I love the way you had pictured with an emphasis on the side glance.

Wierd Folkersma has replied to Nylonbleu
When I saw for the first time, it made me laugh.
But there is much more then just humour in the sculpture

humm, very bizarre indeed... It's cute in a picture but I don't know how I would feel about seeing this larger then life boy peeing in real life...

Wierd Folkersma has replied to Shuttering Yukon
Oh for me it is very funny
And for people who don't like it, it is there only for two monthes

brilliant! i know someone who looks like that :-)

this is a take on the manneken pis in the centre of brussels, a boy peeing (in a fountain) and here into the sea! these statue designers have strange minds, but i guess whatever floats your boat :-)

nicely photographed and the selective colour really makes old big 'ed stand out (not that you could miss it really!)

Wierd Folkersma has replied to Jon Smith
Thank you
He most probably was influenced by manneken pis, but there is more in this sculpture

It was humorous to me too Wierd, but then there is also a kind of sadness and fear in that face. I can see why it might be disturbing to some. It's kind of sad for the artist that it will be taken down. Very nicely photographed by you and I do like the selective coloring too.

Wierd Folkersma has replied to k.e.s_kloset

Great selective colour. Must be strange having such a large sculpture there. The one in Brussels is quite small and blends into the surroundings. Interesting choice Wierd.
