Soligor 100mm, prime lens.

Soligor 100mm, prime lens.
This cheap-n-cheerful third party lens always suprises me with its image quality. Despite a wide aperture setting in bright daylight the lens has managed a respectable d.o.f. and surprising detail at f3.5.
I notice from the exif data that my 400D recognises the lens as the ef100mm/f2,8, which would have cost me about 3 times what I paid for the Soligor .......... ;o)

i can see why you are so delighted with this lens - just looking at the textures of the petals...

The lens was manufactured by Cosina but marketed under several brand names including Vivitar, Soligor and Cosinon; and for several different manufacturers mounts. Being an older design it will cover a 'full frame' sensor; it feels cheap and flimsy, but that doesn't detract from its performance. I really ought to try it out on some landscape shots!
