Forever Resting Place
The big boy who broke out of my coyote trap and stuck around long enough to mock me met his maker on the gravel road in front of the farm. He was laid to rest in our front yard right next to Baby Boo by my sister and my husband. They arranged a rock and pine cones to mark the grave. I wasn't intending to name the fella, but I want to honor not only his life but the man who helped me sort through the rescues. Sparky lost his life when the car her and his 11-year-old (step)daughter crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle, bursting into an inferno of flames on impact, killing both Sparky and his beautiful, gracious little girl as well as two of the three occupants of the other vehicle. Sparky and Mary both clearly had an infectious love of life and animals, and I am grateful for Sparky's insistence that I give shy Miss Opal a chance at indoor living. To honor Sparky's memory, I have posthumously named this feline Sparks.
