Yes, I took other photos of Magnus looking a bit more dignified in this very same setting. Somehow, though, this pose with that tongue dangling sideways simply screams Magnus.

While I'm thinking of it, notice that thick drool? It just gets thicker as the romps go on. Once Magnus came indoors after our second romp yesterday, this big boy plopped down and panted. Apparently Vidalia was so very happy to see him. She rubbed under his chin repeatedly. . . then came over to me. Without a second thought, I reached down and stroked her back. Ewwwwwwww. Quite wet with strands of thick goo. I knew immediately what Vidalia had done. I turned and watched her go back over to Magnus and rub under his chin some more. Yep, Vidalia is one of a kind.

The setting is perfect for gorgeous pet portraits, but you're right about the goofy tongue. He makes me smile. So does Vidalia! She is truly unique. I can hardly think of anything less appealing that rubbing up against dog drool, but her love seems unconditional. Are those mosquitoes I see around Magnus's eyes? Last summer you posted a couple shots of Mangus covered with mosquitoes that was an image I'll never forget.

Thanks, Kerri. Yes, those are mosquitos. I had hoped that we would have less this year, but we have had so much moisture that we actually are having a record year for mosquiots THIS year. Good thing I have all the protective equipment I bought last year. I may look silly, but it keeps down the bites.

I can't even imagine rubbing my hand through dog drool - yikes!

Sorry the mosquitoes are so bad! After the 8 inches of rain we had this week I expect we'll have a few too. We have standing water in the back yard.

Yuck! I am not a fan of dog drool (or cat drool either for that matter - Smokey loves to drool all over me). It is fascinating to me that Vidalia doesn't mind being covered in dog drool as many cats don't care to get wet. However, it is wonderful that she doesn't mind it. Magnus is a very handsome dog, other than the drool! I love this classic pose that he has - that tongue is so long it must be in the way sometimes! He also looks great in these beautiful blue flowers! (are they lupine, I think?)
