Obsession!

Obsession!
Mr. Grigsby has an obsession with food. Any food. Our food. Now, it would be simply a nuisance if Mr. Grigsby weren't allergic to unknown foods. Instead, it is a matter of protecting his health. And, let me tell you, it hasn't been easy.

Yesterday it simply was a forgotten bit of food. Kevin toasted a pastry in the toaster for his breakfast. Apparently it was still in the toaster come lunch. Granted, I didn't get to see anything but the crumbs. Why? Well, I knew Mr. Grigsby grabbed something off the counter. I heard the thud when he hit the floor and quickly investigated. As I approached, I could see multiple felines circling his prize. However, Magnus approached quicker than I did. One gulp, that's all it took. One Tiny gulp, that is. Magnus downed the whole pastry before I could identify it. Kevin is the one who realized what it was. And the crumbs matched his assumption.

However, today it had more to do with Mr. Grigsby's determination than simply his obsession. Kevin went to a graduation party while I worked in the office this morning. Kevin kindly brought home a piece of cake for me and put it in the cake holder. He appropriately set the jar of peanut butter (mixed with birdseed, but I digress) on top of the cake holder before he took Da Boyz out for their romp. When Kevin came back in the house, three cats were circled around the cake holder, flipped upside down on the floor. Kevin rescued what was left. Wanting me to see the destruction, Kevin put the cake holder back on the counter and this time set a heavy saucepan on top of it. Apparently it didn't take too long for the saucepan to clatter on the floor. Yep, when Mr. Grigsby makes up his mind that he wants something, Mr. Grigsby will stop at nothing to get it. Kevin moved the evidence to the laundry room. Thankfully Mr Grigsby hasn't learned to open up doors. . . yet.

BTW, I have decided to transfer only my favorite photos from flickr over here to ipernity. I suspect I'll download my flickr stream to my computer (using bulkr). I'll select some of my favorite photos to re-post with new stories (such as this photo of Mr. Grigsby). I hope no one will mind getting a second look at select photos.

Mr. Grigsby is a stinker! I can't believe he's able to get the cover off things... I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy the cake!

I hope his food allergies don't kick in with his snacks. Shaking my head.....

He is such a bad boy! I wonder why he is so food obsessed. Poor boy if he only knew how bad it is for him!

i have a dog like that who steals any food she can find. i currently have fridge locks galore on my fridge and if I forget to lock at all she is there and emptying my fridge, a biscuit in my pocket left when I hang my coat up - gone in a blink. The only thing I don't have to worry about is what she eats but I get where you are coming from

What a cat! It is very difficult to be on guard as much as you will need to be with that determined fellow! He is obviously very smart and very motivated. And, like me, he has a sweet tooth! LOL! At least Magnus kept him from enjoying that pastry from yesterday, but it can't be good if he is too successful too many times!

As for your photos - I enjoy your photos and your stories, so keep 'em coming, however you see fit. Are you going to take down your flickr photo stream completely? Or just transfer some of your favourite photos over here?

Thanks, Fran. I think I will leave up my flickr stream for now. I still get hundreds of visits a day there (far more than anything over here). For one, my foster family's older daughter enjoys perusing earlier photos as a way to remember all the fosters that have passed through their doors. I'll just transfer over some of my favorite photos--especially for the felines who will have articles advertising them--and perhaps have my all-time favorite photos see the front of my ipernity stream.

Hilarious - what a guy. Super photo of him as well. Years ago we had an ex feral tabby called Leo who would steal anything that wasn't pinned down. He once came home with a small bag of frozen peas (honestly!) and I never found out where he stole them from. He just left them on the floor when he found they weren't as tasty as he first thought
