So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
With the closing of Ipernity immanent, I’ve decided that there’s no reason to keep posting photos. Thanks everyone for your friendship and all the great photos and comments.

I looked at opening a 23HQ account, but decided against it. My Flickr account is still active (I never left). Please come over for a visit, sometime.

And for those of you who left Flickr a few years back and came here to Ipernity, you should give Flickr another look. A lot of the issues they were having have been ironed out. The site is better than ever, in my opinion.

I’ll continue to log in to Ipernity until the site closes down.

I don't know that I agree that it's better than ever, but it's a lot better than it was in 2013. There's a lot I'll miss a lot about ipernity, but I plan on seeing you and everybody else on the other side.

I agree. It's not better than ever. It's better than it used to be.

And still drags my slow connection down and down....

Ipernity was and is better than flickr ever was/is.... so sad.. and having to start from scratch again is so demoralising.

I sort of remember you saying something about how slow Flick was for you. Weird. I find it just as speedy as any of site.

Jim... I live VERY rurally. Its a small company that provides Net and phone..... if they didnt Iand we lived 5 miles further out).... we basically would have to depend on very expensive and not good satellite. The connex is slow...

Pam's right. Without a fast connection Flickr is slow. I'm in the sticks too and if I didn't have Satellite internet I probably wouldn't even both sharing photos at all. I had a Sprint 3G aircard and Flickr was almost unusable. You need 4G or better for it. The Flickr Android is ok but a HUGE data hog.

And yes, it's much better than it was after the 2013 butcher job. I think they were / are trying to look like instagram which I tried and Hate.

I think I'm going to use Canon's Image Gateway and Irista more to back up photos online and link to.

See ya on Flickr Jim.

I don't have trouble with the speed. I just despise the interface and getting hit with those awful scrolling pages. I doubt I'll ever go back there.

Happy new year, Jim. The worst thing about Ipernity shutting down is going to be losing contact with so many nice people.

Thank you, Ron. Please let me know where you end up, if, in fact, Ipernity goes away.
I can always be found on Flickr (link above) and also at photoblog.com (https://www.photoblog.com/jim2/), where I'm trying out a Project 365 photo-a-day thingy.
