Wii - Cursed Mountain

Picked up Cursed Mountain this week. Although I've just gotten started, it seems to be a pretty good game.

The visuals are quite good and the ambient sound effects are quite effective and good quality. They really pull you into the game and can sometimes make you jump a bit. The controls are also pretty smooth and easy to execute.

About the only problem I've experienced so far is a few minor issues with the camera angles. Some spirits attack when you first enter a room. The door frame and surrounding wall sometimes get in the way and make fighting these ghosts a little more frustrating.

Very atmospheric, with some nice particle effects. It seems like it can be nerve racking, in the good way.

In my opinion, it's one of the better quality 3rd party developed games for the Wii. I've read, however, that it hasn't been a strong seller, which is unfortunate.

One of the complaints from these "hard core" gamers is that there are not many game titles developed for the Wii with them in mind. Yet, when one does get released (and a good one at that), they don't buy it anyway. I work with a few of these so called "hard core" gamers at the office, and they do eventually get copies of these games, but they pirate them... usually downloading them from on-line "home brew" resources.

Doesn't really motivate game developers (at least as the Wii is concerned) to make games for this group of gamer, does it? I wonder if the upcoming Dead Space: Extraction will fair any better.

Yeah, it sucks when people don't support those that are trying to give them what they want. It's too bad, since consoles used to be the systems that were very hard to pirate games for.

If the development crew for Dead Space put as much effort into the Wii version as the other version, (which I've heard great things about) it should be a great title.

it looks and sounds pretty good.....a good sign also that Im getting involved and Im not playing, just watching. Have got a copy of Red Steel and now realise that playing FSPs on the WII is not only possible but really enjoyable...........................

I rented Red Steel when we first bought our Wii console. It was one of the first 3rd party released games that debuted with the Wii. It was an okay game, but first person shooters for the Wii have improved since then.

I'm looking forward to Red Steel 2, due out early next year.

David its a really scary game you have there.........I was just re reading the comments above, and I heard this low moaning and a breathing sound ...could just hear it, actually looked behind me to see what if anything was making the noise. Then realised it was coming from my headphones which are plugged in but Im not actually wearing them.....and the sound is.....your video piece, which I couldnt actually see.

Didn't mean to scare you there, John. Maybe I should put a disclaimer at the beginning of the video, "Don't watch in the dark"! ;o)

There are quite a few layers of sounds in this game. It's been done very well, and seems to me that a lot of work was put in to making this game.
