Wii - Real Heroes Firefighter

A first person "shooter" for the Wii, where you are a firefighter, fighting all sorts of fires and rescuing people.

Like some other FPS, you do get to carry an axe, but instead of a machine gun, you carry a fire hose.

The controls are kind of touchy. But once you get used to it, the game is pretty good.

They've also added a nice touch with the wiimote acting as your walkie talkie radio. In this clip, you hear the radio chatter over the T.V. But, when playing you can change it so that the voices come through the wiimote. It adds that little bit of realism to the game, because if the surrounding noise (from the T.V.) is too loud, you can't hear the radio all that well. Sort of what it might be like in the middle of a real blaze.

The fire itself plays as a character of it's own. The game Alone In the Dark was suppose to have this very innovative engine for the fire element, but I find the one in Firefighter much better. It seems to react much more realistically.

I've only just started playing, but it's been enjoyable enough so far. Certainly better than any Lucas Arts games I've played of late. And it was less than $30.00, so it was a pretty good deal, too.

Looks like fun. I can see some things that would upset those that go on about things not being realistic enough, but hey: it's a video game. As long as it's fun, that's all I need.

It's also nice to see game like this, because there aren't a lot of action titles that have you saving a lot of people. It's not like I'm against violent video games, but it's nice to see a change every now and then.

A video game's graphics have never been the defining thing that made it good or bad for me. Some things could have been done better in this game, but a lot more could have been done worse.

One of the aspects about this game that does stand out is the voice acting. I think it was well done.

Well, I finished it. Took about seven hours.

Overall, a pretty good game. There's one mission where you're rescuing people from a laboratory. One scientist you are helping escape needs to get to the vault to retrieve his very important project. When you get to the vault, he retrieves a cybernetic hand and forearm, and a small CPU chip.

An un-expected homage to Terminator 2... nice touch.
