Morning songbirds out at the homestead

Ah, springtime out at the homestead. The typical sounds of the morning. How many different kinds of birds can you hear?

I can hear a dove, robin, horned owl, chickadee, meadow lark, pheasant, starlings and mallard ducks. Pretty soon, we'll be adding chickens to that orchestra.

I think we usually just get crows or ravens. We do see the odd duck now and then.

Haven't seen too many crows yet, but we did have a few magpies hanging about over the winter. And there are now seagulls hanging out with the Canadian geese, down by the slews. Also saw a pair of swans during our last drive by (of the slew).

Yes, we are very fortunate and blessed to be out here. These sounds are so much more pleasing to hear in the morning, rather that what we used to have to listen to, when we were in the city.

Back then, the sounds I can remember hearing were city bus, loud truck with holes in the muffler, cars peeling out at the intersection, lawn mower, leaf blower, drunk hollering at people at the bus stop, and train engines moving freight cars around in the train yard.
