The book carried by the angel refers to Ezekiel chapter 9: “Unehrenbiethigkeiten in den Hauß Gottes” (cases of irreverence in the house of God).
The message seems to be that disrespectful behavior in the church will be punished the same way as the sins of Jerusalem’s population in Ezekiel’s vision. Not an agreeable prospect.

Behind the door was a small baptistery.

Consider this as a last warning! ;-)

Actually, I hadn’t thought of you, though it’s hard to see an angel and not think of you, and though it certainly applies to you (poor Ulrich!). We were simply intrigued by this door. We had difficulty reading the text, which we first thought had to be a quotation from the bible, and when we’d finally deciphered it had difficulty connecting it with the bible passage mentioned.
The modern translation would probably be: “Ezekiel Chapter 9 – Don’t enter the church dressed in shorts!”

From what you've told me he was pretty cool....Mother Theresa is certainly one of my heroes...so if he were like her! He is too :-DDDDD

I added the “Mother Theresa” myself because I know you a little. In reality, Mother Theresa was the St. Ulrich of Calcutta.
