The ski jump seems to be in pretty good shape (until you see the rest of it). On top, you get a nice view of Icking. I think that's reason enough to let it be.
Had this been 70 years ago instead of just 60 then my opinion of the construction would have been so different. As it is, I like the optimism it proves was once prevalent in the area!
Now I think of it, it may already have been in use in the Thirties... I believe it was. Now what’s your opinion of the construction? (Luckily, not all Ickinger were bad people: even the mayor used to warn hidden Jews when the Gestapo were on their trail.)
I was walking around especially to feed the Icking Group on Flickr which I had neglected for too long...
Well the steps look as though they are concrete and that, sadly, reminds me of that particular stark and harsh period :-( However, of course I realise the majority of people were decent and peaceful. Just a result of so much imagery over a lifetime. I suppose in a way I am (we are!) luckier than our youngsters who have never quite felt the same "proximity" to WWII as I/we do...
In fact I am very fond of the 1930's in general - in between those two major horrors. I have no answers - just images... I am so inadequate! :-))
