Snail hand

Snail hand
After a short rainshower, the snails were out by the thousands. The background is the grand Amphitheatre of Hieropolis, Turkey. We surmised that he snails were the souls of those thousands buried in the 'City of the dead'.

You are right! My memory falters. It was "Hieropolis" in the Pamukkale area of Anatolia, near Denizli. The Romans built the city on top of the mineral springs that come up from the ground. It was definitely a 'city of the dead'.....hundreds of crypts and sepulchres. I will post more shots of the area soon. Thanx, I will amend the notes for the doc.
