Jóvenes Perdidos - el Recién Desafecto

Jóvenes Perdidos - el Recién Desafecto
(Please view in larger sizes for best effect)

Located near larger cities, many once-booming farm towns in America gave way to the newly prosperous, middle-income suburban classes in the post 1960s. Under the downward economic pressures of the last several years, new business has dried up and property values plummeted, vaporizing tax revenues and forcing municipal budgets toward crippling bankruptcy.

For many upcoming youth, finding a positive, realistic trajectory through which to prosper financially, seems more and more like a a silly, antiquated fantasy. For them, "Settling for Less" is the new American Dream.

I also enjoy your political commentary...it really is the sub-text of more and more of our developed economies, TH. I worked for years with disadvantaged youth in Australia, where the same issues proliferate......Diana PS I like the photo too......!!!

Many thanks, Diana! Yes. The situation is strange. Different, yet somehow familiar. While I remain one of America's vast unemployed, I at least know what it is like to work as a professional in a well-paid position. These kids have no such recollection and many see no hope of finding such employment for themselves.
