This could have been better if it was not a tad bit out of focus. I am hoping some of you will give me some pointers on how to manually focus accurately at night. This is something I struggle with.

You are far enough away here that turning it to infinity should get the mountains in focus. Closer you can use a flashlight on the subject.

The scene is beautiful, and looks sharper to my eyes in the light box. That's why I recommend the Light Box for most of my pictures. My only gripe with ipernity is that the pictures so often do not look as sharp as they should, but do seem to look sharper in the Light Box.

I agree with Ron. Infinity should get the whole scene in focus.

Right in the middle of the Infinity sign, not farther.
Try it in daytime and remember how to backup "a little", and stay in manual focus mode.

Well, up to the 1024 x 768 view it still looks awesome and pin sharp! :)
Of course no comfort for a perfectionist, but it means as a regular postcard size drugstore print it could not go possibly shaper than it is already.
I know the frustation with the manual focussing, mostly from digiscoping with DSLR adapter. :(

It looks sharp to me, Tim. I'd endorse the advice given early by Ron - and suggest (though you probably have one) a head light so you can see the settings while leaving your hands free.

A fascinating image in spite of the difficulty with the focus. I had the same problem so I'm sorry but I can't help you about that. It seems that most cameras have difficulty in focusing with very dim light.

it is a difficult job Tim because of the limited light, maybe long exposure will help and a tripod of course
