Grand Canyon #5

Grand Canyon #5
This is a view from the last mile of the Bright Angel Trail between Pipe Creek and the Silver Bridge, the closer of the two bridges in the photo. The Black Bridge is at the bottom of the South Kaibab Trail. The sunlit butte in the background is, I think, Vishnu's Temple.

Phil West, yokopakumayoko Francesco, Mitch Seaver, Rob McMonigal and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

This brings back memories! More than a decade ago we boated down the Colorado from Lees Ferry. There was an angry, sullen, complaining woman in our group. She and her husband left us here at Phantom. Her husband's plan was to walk out via Bright Angel trail. He had no idea....

You've hiked that trail, Tim. You didn't happen to see her 10 years later, sitting on a rock half way up, still griping, did you? :=)

No, I didn't see her but that may be because I was too angry, sullen and complaining to notice. :) Just kidding, but that is a tough slog out. Best time to do it is overnight in the moonlight.
I think I have climbed the entire length of the bright Angel Trail 3 times now and twice more from Indian Gardens up. You would think I would learn.
Too bad you had to experience that. One person like that in a group can ruin things for everyone.

Wow I think I'd have been a bit nervous crossing that bridge !! Stunning view with some great light on the distant butte

Yes, it does move around a bit. What was more unnerving for me, though, was seeing the river 40-50 feet below between my boots. :)
