Der Teide ist mit 3715 m nicht nur der höchste Berg der Kanarischen Inseln; er ist damit auch der höchste Berg auf dem spanischen Staatsgebiet. Seit 2007 sind der Berg und der umliegende Nationalpark UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe.

Neben dem Tourismus ist der Export von Bananen ein wichtiger Stützpfeiler der Wirtschaft der Kanarischen Inseln. In einem ‚Bananenmuseum‘ kann man sich in Icod de Los Vinos über die Entwicklung und Geschichte dieses Wirtschaftszweigs informieren. Viele Anbauflächen mußten allerdings in den letzten Jahren touristischen Einrichtungen ( Hotels ) weichen. Und der Import aus transatlantischen Staaten ist tatsächlich so billig geworden, dass sich die kanarischen Bananen am europäischen Markt kaum behaupten können.

The summit of El Teide is the highest point in Spain ( 3718m ). He’s a still active volcano and the last eruption In the Teide massiv was in 1909.
