Frankfurt - Paulskirche
seen from the Main Tower - The St. Paul's Church, built between 1789 and 1833, is one of the most important political symbols in Germany. Built for Protestant services it was the place where the National Assembly met the first time on May 18th 1848. Until 1849 the members tried to develop the first constitution for a united Germany. The resistance of Prussia, Austria and some smaller German states prevented this. The church was again used for Lutheran services. 1944 it was completely destroyed by bombing. After WW 2 it was the first structure which has been rebuilt in Frankfurt City. Today it's no longer used as a church. It's a place for several displays and events. The most known is the Peace Price of the German Book Trade dring the Frankfurt Book Fair every year in autumn.
