Good shot. Bigger than a kookaburra?
Why were you catching piranhas?? Are they good to eat?

Bigger than a kookaburra. We were with a local guy in a tinny, putting out little string lines with baited hooks. There were swarmsof piranhas. We landed a few.. about 10-15 cm. very aggressive, with razor sharp teeth. They looked pretty bony and unpleasant. We threw them to the kingfisher or to fishing eagles which were hanging about. They enjoyed them.

An excellent capture Diana. Love his 'mottled' looking plumage. Do they all have these distinctive markings? That sounds like a dangerous pastime catching piranha fish! Enjoy the rest of your week

He looks very grim and morose, as if he does not have a good day. But its outfit cannot be the reason. His plumage is beautiful, your photo too, Diana! Maybe he does not like photographers? ;-)
