India. Wild tiger. Tigre sauvage

India. Wild tiger. Tigre sauvage
Magnificent young male at Bandhavgar National Park in eastern Madhya Pradesh, India. It was late June, 50C. At this time foliage has died away, so visibility is excellent. This animal walked out from a distant thicket, slowly. The photo was taken from around 3-4 meters, standing in an open jeep. It is a park which is quite difficult to access, so tourist numbers were very low, and tiger numbers were high. We saw about 10 different animals over 2 days.

Cautiously....with a guy in an open jeep....there were plenty of deer and prey, and it had just finished eating, so we sat quietly and it passed around 3 meters from us.! It was the most amazing moment of my life, especially when it stopped and stared straight into my eyes! it is a wild tiger, not in a game park or open zoo.

How good, that it had just finished eating...! :-)

That was my opinion too...it had just eaten the remains of a deer which it had killed, but that was too distant for my lens to catch.

It must have been amazing.! I would have loved to have been there. I saw a lot of wild life in India when I was a kid, as I was born there, but I never had the luck to see a wild tiger!

How interesting...where were you born? I have spent lots of time in India, and love it. I'd love to know.

The king of the animals, we should hope that the number will increase again! (There were only 250 tigers left in Thailand, at the present the number increased to 700.)
