The big fella

This "old man" Eastern Grey kangaroo is the largest in our local group, photographed here in the nearby nature reserve. Fully upright, I would expect he would stand about 1.5 metres. Although not aggressive, kangaroos can be quite dangerous if feeling threatened - see this little video (skip to about 1.20 for a clear view of the action). Explored.

Quiet beach

Honeysuckle Beach is deep within the Murramarang National Park and was not exactly crowded when we visited. Best viewed large. Here's a musical link. Explored.

I'm aawayyyy!

A very small Eastern Long-Necked Turtle (Chelodina longicollis) , common to eastern Australia, making a hasty headlong retreat into leaf litter after being released. I had rescued it from the middle of a road, where it had a serious risk of being run over. The size can be seen from the other images in the notes. These turtles have the unique habit of tucking their heads sideways under their shells as a defensive mechanism, as seen in the notes, which also show the colourful underside. These turtles can grow to a shell size of about 25cm with the neck extending beyond by a similar distance. I guess this is a fairly obvious link.

Going, going ..... gone!

Tonight's much hyped "Super blue blood moon", as it disappeared into eclipse, a collation of images. We were lucky that the cloud cleared just as the eclipse began. For those wanting EXIF details, the lower right image was taken at f11, 1/125 and ISO 400; the middle image at f8, 1/100 and ISO 800; the top left image at f5.6, 1/40 and ISO 3200. The camera is a Pentax K-1. Explored.

Fungal underside

I shall not pretend to know the species of this fungus, suffice to say that it was about 2.5cm across and growing from the side of a plastic garden pot that had fractured. A second shot in the note shows the upper surfaces.
