Next section?

Next section?
It seems likely the next stage of demolition of the old bridge will be to remove this remaining end section, with the large crane working from the barge. In the background on the right, the daily tourist boat is heading up the river.

Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Although enlivened by the colorful equipment, this really brings home the sad demise of the old bridge, now reduced to nothing more than its old "feet" still marking the line on which it once stood to cross the water.

HFF, George and have a great weekend!

It has been very interesting to see the progress of the new bridge and demolition of the old one George. I suppose, very soon there will be no reminder of it, except in your photographs!

Interesting stuff George... surely that barge with the crane is anchored down - or supported - otherwise it would tip with any large weights - // Anyway - keep well and a ''HFF'' to you - from Dj.

The removal of the last section will be yet another milestone reached George. What happens to all the supports after that - are they removed or left in situ?

A super shot. I like the contrast between the bridge work and the tourist pleasure boat in the background.

HFF and have a good weekend

Thanks, Carol. I'm fairly certain that the intention is to remove everything, including the concrete piers, but I really don't know how they propose to do that. I guess the answer will be coming soon. :-) Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

I understand a very little will go into a memorial to the old bridge, as far as I know the rest is being recycled.

Maybe they will leave the 'stumps' of the old bridge as a memory. That happened after the Tay Bridge disaster. www.ipernity.com/doc/1021409/46170172
