Dopey animal!

Dopey animal!
Playing with ISO and a change from my recent snow images! One of several kangaroos seen on the street. At this stage I had to shout "SHOOO" to get it off the road, as the car (headlights from the right) approached.

appo-fam, Claudine Gaulier-Denis, Gudrun, and 34 other people have particularly liked this photo

They are so silly. We live in the Adelaide hillls...rounded a corner one night to a giant whopper sitting smack in front of me, hooted, flashed lights, shouted...not a movement.started to creep around it and it kept moving with me..spent 5 mins on a dangerous bend waiting for it, or me, oir both, to be wiped ou!

Pheasants are the ones with least road sense in Scotland. They seem to have a death wish. I'm surprised there are any left for the shooters. The only large wild animals are deer and they are better. Loose domesticated animals like sheep and cows are thankfully rare. Neither will move for you and sheep are quite fond of lying down on the tarmac giving you a cold stare and daring you to move.

Let me guess. There has been sudden global warming in Norway? No? LOL
Our dopey animals are mainly pheasants, as Jean said. I'm surprised that anyone pays to go on a shoot to bag a brace of them. I suppose it saves on the front bodywork of a car.

Well, it stopped in a perfect place for you to get a good picture George! I love the curve in the road and the light! There are so many pheasants and partridges where my daughter lives, it really is surprising that I have managed to miss them so far.

Oh dear...these guys give me a heart attack. With us it's turkeys in the road. Deer too. Please for the love of PETE would you get out of the road?! I've had to scare off tom turkeys because they thought the middle of the road was a great place for a stand-off and comparison of tail feathers. *shakes head*

Too many bad endings here, though in your case, it's warming to think about the rescue operations who raise the joeys from orphan situations. Doesn't make it any nicer that it happened in the first place though :(

Waw, an incredible scene. I remember over 20 years ago have same kind of situation with a fox, but no camera in the car that night. Nevertheless I keep it as a marvellous magical memory.

Great shot of this dopey Kangaroo.. Glad you got it off the road. Our wild dopey animals on the roads are fox. A Lot are killed at night mostly cubs.

Du hast Recht, das Känguru ist wirklich dämlich: Wegen des Linksverkehrs in Australien, müsste es an dieser Stelle ja nach links schauen ...

Not a usual sight around here! The road-hazard animals around here are the mustangs--wild horses. There's a herd locally that crosses the road down to the lake, and it can be dicey when they're trying to get across!
