OH GEORGE !!

BEFORE I LEFT THE UK.. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE FOOTINGS AND THE VERY BEGINNING OF "THE SHARD" FROM THE TRAIN WINDOWS IN MY COMINGS AND GOINGS.. ALL MY LIFE I HAVE HAD A FASCINATION WITH SKYSCRAPERS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE "SHARD" FINISHED !

I know the feeling, George. Adrian belongs to a group called Spoilaphoto.org.uk. If we are planning any city break he organises scaffolding and netting, preferably orange, in advance, particularly if I have expressed the wish to see a certain building, and he pays individuals to photo-bomb most other views. ;-))))

The scaffolding gives you a unique shot at least. And as Tacheles says it is temporary. I'm pretty sure however that glory is not forever. Think of `My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains.

Scaffolding is pandemic in Europe... ;(

Si on trouve partout ces échafaudages c'est surtout pour des travaux d'entretient ou de rénovation..Vous êtes tombé peut être au mauvais moment,ceux ou celles qui viendront après auront la chance de prendre peut être de belles photos.
( mais l’idée du livre photo est intéressante).

A photo book about the "Great scaffolding of Europe" as a testimony and mirror of a society that worldwide only values outward appearances, but not what is on the inside, is a brilliant idea, George!

The buildings in Toronto tend to look better with scaffolding. I can think of several buildings here that would be more attractive with scaffolding on them permanently:

Scaffolding is a growth industry in the UK George, you can barely change a light-bulb without a safety rail, Nice shot and appropriate link!

It's so frustrating when you're traveling and what you're going to see is under construction. I've experienced that too.

"Great Scaffolding of Europe" sounds like a prize winning photo book to me, George :-) It happens to me too and quite often when I have in mind a particular Cathedral to photograph!!! Good choice of music :-)

Thanks for your comments and stars, everyone. It seems that finding it everywhere is a shared problem. It turns out that ipernity has a scaffolding group which is largely inactive (the Admin hasn't logged in for several years), but it looks a great place for your scaffolding shots.
