Roadside flowers

Roadside flowers
Seen near the roadside in western Queensland. I had thought this to be an Australian native plant I could not identify, and had posted to that effect, but Nora Caracci (see below) has now correctly identified it as an import from Madagascar. What's more, it has reached the status of being an invasive weed! Since taking this image, I have also found and photographed it (see note) in another area much closer to home.

Indeed they are, Pam, but see the updated notes - Nora has correctly identified them and it turns out to have reached the status of an invasive imported weed!

Lovely. I can not identify them at all, but have seen them in a few places......don’t know if they are native or not, George

Thanks, Diana. Sadly, it turns out that Nora has correctly identified it as from Madagascar and (see updated notes) it now is an invasive weed.

Thanks very much for your comment and homework in identifying this, Nora. You were right on the mark. Unfortunately it seems the plant is now an invasive weed in parts of Australia! I have updated my comment with the image and also have given a link.

Thanks very much, Roger. It does look good and that's probably why it was imported...... sadly, it seems it's now a particularly nasty weed in some areas.

We saw these near the Gold Coast and I thought they were beautiful but also learned that they were classified as an invasive weed. Mother of Millions they're sometimes called.

Some invasive weeds do look fabulous! We have kalanchoe only as pot plants.
