Mallee gum

Mallee gum
I've read that there are about 40 different species of eucalypts in the "mallee gum" category, so I won't try to identify this one further. :-) They grow in the drier areas of Australia and are characterised by having spreading branches without a trunk.

Diane Putnam, Nouchetdu38, Gudrun, Elbertinum and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thanks, Richard. I've been delighted with the Samyang - sharp, good colours and contrast and not too costly. Here's my first 'serious" shot with it: Sunset at the marina

Well seen. I especially like how the branches line up with the clouds. Very dynamic, too -- everything seems to be moving forward.

. . . very fine tree George . . . no trunk . . . wonder if it makes it
more vulnerable to splitting and falling . . . (F1 this weekend again)

A lovely view of a Eucalyptus in the wild. So much better than our sad attempts in the UK to grow this genus. I love the way the branches mimic the shapes of the clouds.

Thank you, Amelia. I'm sure some eucalypts would be ok over there, though I doubt your climate would suit these which are more adapted to low rainfall and hot dry summers.
