Days Gone By

Days Gone By
One of my old Minolta SR1 SLR cameras, with my equally old (and non-functioning) light meter and a few slide boxes. Ah, the pre-digital days, when each photo cost real money and there was a wait to see how successful they were! Prompted by Ian Grainger's blog article "Do you shoot film?" www.ipernity.com/blog/iangrainger/696115

I had the SRT201 and sometimes wish I still had it and miss the days of film. Have thousands of slides somewhere, too, but most of them are scanned and I should just toss them.

Yes, I sometimes miss film too, Ron. I'd say keep the slides if their condition is OK: being analogue anyone can view them later.

o0o indeed film was expensive to develop and so we had
to be careful and choose our subject wisely and shoot
carefully ... if we could ;-) and so no deliberate ICM ;-) oOo

I agree, Bev, being 'adventurous' with film was very limited. :)

I now take more photos on an afternoon's hike than I used to on an entire vacation!

Lovely image. Film's still around. I keep a film camera loaded all the time, and it's still exciting to pick up the pictures when they're developed, see what turned out halfway decent.

Thank you, Bob. Yes, I can see that I shall have to try following your example.

Attractive composition, George. Looking at the output from those days on the old SLR, I can't achieve anything like the quality of today's SLR, with scanned images of old photos. I guess if you had developed your own photos it might be a different case. Just love digital SLR :-)

Thanks Gillian. I've found that copying my old slides with DSLR and macro gives me the best results. It's hard to not like digital though. :)
