In the Forest

In the Forest
Taken along the track to the Hogarth Falls in western Tasmania. Despite appearances, the water in the creek is fresh and clean, that brown colouring comes from tannins leaching from the sap of the trees in the forest.

Gorgeous shot. I love the view of the edge of the forest. Witch hazel has a delicious sweet scent and so good as it flowers for some time in winter months.

Wow. The tree's sap can colour the pond so much?
However, a good French red wine contains tannins, so why water might not? ;)

i suspect the differences are that the water is better for you, while the French red wine tastes better. :)

Does that look like a second growth California redwood forest or what?

I'd have to take your word. :) I guess forests have similar characteristics and this could well have been logged in the 1800s.

Beautiful place. We often see that color in the water here in the mountains.

Thank you Ron. I'm sure the colour must come out in many well-forested areas. :)
