That fire place is remarkable! It doesn't look at all safe - especially not for a little boat being tossed about in huge swells.

Yes, it does raise questions Dave, though I suspect the outer panels may close which would reduce the fire risk. But there is no flue, so I guess it relies on the heat to take (some of) the smoke out the grating above.....

Thank you, Janet. Yes, it does stretch the imagination! I've now learned that Graeme was formerly a cabinetmaker, which I guess explains the quality of the woodwork.
