Ist das ein museales, nachträgliches Schild oder galt das schon immer der Bezeichnung dessen, was sich hinter den Mauern und Gitterstäben verbirgt?

Ich kann's nicht wirklich beantworten, nehme aber an, das es eher ein museales Schild ist. Ich glaube nicht, das ursprünglich eine Beschilderung nötig war.
