Louis Thomas Hardin (1916 - 1999)

Louis Thomas Hardin (1916 - 1999)

I was born in Marysville, Kansas, May 26, 1916. [...] My first drum set, at the age of five, was a cardboard box. [...] My father once visited the Arapaho Indian Reservation, and there I sat in Chief Yellow Calf's lap and beat the drum for the rain dance. [...] It was in Hurley that I lost my sight when a dynamite cap exploded. [...] After leaving the school for the Blind in 1936, I lived in and near Batesville, Arkansas, until 1942 when, thanks to Virginia Sledge, I obtained a scholarship to study in Memphis. [...] In the fall of 1943 I came to New York and met Artur Rodzinski, who let me attend the rehersals of the Philharmonic. It was there that I met Leonard Bernstein. [...] Though I was born in the United States, I consider myself " a European in exile" for my heart and soul are in Europe. [...] I am a tonalist at odds with all atonalists, polyatonalists, quartertonalists, computerisers....

Hardin deceased and joined the eternal choirs of heaven on the 8th of September 1999 in Münster and was buried there on the central cemetery. His tomb fell in oblivion (PiP). Nobody cares...

Moondog - What's The Most Exciting Thing.

And we have a second option to Soundtrack to Life for all these, who die for classical music: Moondog - Prelude and fugue in A minor

Ganymede, * Boes René *, Christine Boes-Schiller, Don Sutherland and 22 other people have particularly liked this photo

I know of him and should/will revisit his work. I see on his German Wikipedia page that the sculptor was a certain Ernst Fuchs -- wonderful work. BTW, that page de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moondog is quite extensive, so I wouldn't say that "nobody cares." Clearly, some do!

Stimmt.

As Mick says it is great that you care enough to bring this to the attention of our Group, Norbert. Yes, like the opening music.....will be back to listen more :-) And, the "Prelude and fugue in A minor" is most pleasing. Faved work and thank you for posting to 'Soundtrack to Life', Norbert.

Hallo, Norbert !

Sehr beeindruckend.
