Russell Stringfield's Photo Gallery

It is my dream that one of these days I will have my photo's hanging on a brick wall in a gallery in downtown Fort Worth. That the morning sun will be shining through the window, casting a shadow of my name onto the brick wall and a sampling of my shots.

My imaginary exhibit consists as follows, clockwise from upper left:

1) "A Serious Tear" appeared on my granddaughter's face as we had to leave the park one day last year; she so wanted to stay.
Taken January 2014.

2) "Sunrise at the Vietnam War Memorial" The clouds and the silhouette of the helicopter were simply breathtaking.
Taken February 3, 2013.

3) "Downtown Ft. Worth" at blue hour looking west from the top of a parking garage at 3rd and Calhoun Streets.
Taken June 2013.

4) "West 7th Street Bridge" A nighttime long exposure of the newly completed bridge on the west side of downtown Ft. Worth.
Taken November 2013.

5) "Mammoth" A skeleton of a wooly mammoth on display at the Page Museum located at the La Brae Tar Pits in downtown Los Angeles.
Taken January 2014.

6)"Roar!" a manipulated image of a tiger from the Ft. Worth Zoo combined with a Model from Marcus Ranum.
Created November 2014.

I must say I really enjoyed doing this! It's really nice being able to 'show off' a few shots from the past. I basically knew what shots I'd use when this became finalazied, although I would have / could have thrown in fifteen or twenty more and decorated five or six walls. But to make only one wall I cut it down to these six.

All of these have been on Flickr and one of them was featured in the Scavenger Hunt there and some of you here may remember it.

15. Nigel’s Post-posers – Let's get adventurous! PP this month is Collages and Montages...
Take several of your favourite/best ever images and create a photo wall! Sounds easy? Well I'd like you, if you can, to make it look as real as possible as if you had taken a picture of a wall of framed photos :-) so perhaps not so easy.
Some of you more adventurous types and those familiar with the heavier editing suites will find this a little easier but those of you not so confident will find this a little harder... don't panic there are plenty of template based editing suites out there, I just really want you all to do something a little different from your usual monthly collection collages :-)
To Sum up; A realistic wall of photos would be the ideal if you are up for it. Something other than your usual composite of monthly images, if it is easier for you, depending on where your comfort zone is.
Ideas for the latter... I am thinking filmstrip or Polaroid framing, stacking photo's in a heart or butterfly shape just to get away from a standard Page collage! Use your imagination, it’s up to you!
I'll do a walk through and hopefully something to inspire you. - Nodule – TH5/15/15

Here's another photo that I manipulated last year along with the shots that I used to create the shot:
what i used
I used a shot of a foggy road, a pond, the Grimm Reaper, an old grave, a full moon and trees at night and Orion's belt. All of these shots with the exception of the Grimm Reaper are mine, the Grimm Reaper is with thanks from Marcus Ranum. (Yeah, I use his stock a bunch.)

Valfal, Ruth have particularly liked this photo

Excellent job, Russ...even though you stole my idea of using a brick wall before I had a chance to put my plan into action.

Heck, as long as it's not the same brick wall.... who cares? (Although I really hated drilling the very tiny holes in the brick to hang the photos.)
