Shi 70
Mt. Usu, Hokkaido still giving off steam and gas after the March - April 2000 explosive eruption and Earthquakes. Because this Strato Volcano always gives ample warning all people were evacuated safley only buildings were damaged.

So true Bernard, this days walking was one of the Highlights of my life to be witness to such devastation after the event but still, a lasting impression.

Looks very hot :) I visited one volcano and there were warning signs to not stay there long because of the toxic fumes

Yes Sanna, it was very hot, it rained and left puddles which quickly boiled away.
The smell of sulphur was not pleasant but we kept clear as much as we could even though we wanted photos of our little expedition meaning we had to put up with it.
