Using 3 photographs taken with the Fuji F31fd and merged using Canon's PhotoStitch software on auto setting with seemingly no need for fiddling...

Great wide landscape. I know Canon's Photostitch, it's very good.
The only one better programm is autopano!

Thanks for the link! I've taken a look and it certainly does seem better and more advanced with many more functions and features.

When I got my Canon G3 it was part of the bundled software and I've used it ever since, also with the G5 I replaced it with. Recently I've experimented with my little Fuji which doesn't have the in-camera guidance but I'm very happy with the results - I wasn't expecting too much!

So thanks for the tip, I've bookmarked it for a possible future upgrade (though as I've read on I'm being tempted to download the demo) and it's great to know that Photostitch is good as I have nothing to compare it to :-)

Is Autopano geared for all types of cameras? I've looked through the FAQ and tech/details pages and this is what I am assuming, though it doesn't say specifically.

I used Canon Photostitch and Autopano for all types of pictures. The brand of the camera doesn't matter. You can also stitch scans or whatever. The only thing is, you have to make sure that the pictures to stitch overlap for at least 20%. Same exposure (manual) for all pictures and a tripod are recommended too.

Aha... well thank you for that, it's very helpful to me. For my Dad also who was asking my about using PhotoStitch with his new (non Canon) camera - I'll let him know about the 20% etc. Super! :-)
