ramsgate west cliff lift, kent

ramsgate west cliff lift, kent
spectacular mid 1920s concrete art deco lift building below pugin's house. in common with many of ramsgate's other interesting buildings it is currently unused and bricked up. most of kent's coastal towns seem to have lost their way and would benefit from immigration of people and ideas. the money in ramsgate's marina doesn't step ashore, and folkestone's artists seem a better way forward. extension of the high speed lines from ashford would help, as the capital is still just a little too far away. the bone structure of these towns is excellent, but the flesh feels dead: what a waste.
