trinity college, cambridge

trinity college, cambridge
outer facade of the gatehouse begun 1490-2 for the earlier college of king's hall, with work of 1518-19 around the statue of henry VIII, which was remade in 1600 by paris andrew and finished by cure, and bears a chair leg as a sceptre. the top of the gate was finished between 1528-35, though not fully connected to a college until c.1584. the original designer seems to have been john wastell, but it may have changed in execution.
